Copenhagen Embraces ‘Palestine Square’ in a Landmark Vote

Following a long period of heated debate and political divisions, Copenhagen City Council has made a historic move by approving the naming of a central square as ‘Palestine Square’.

The decision, passed with 29 votes in favour and 24 against, places the square in the heart of Norrebro, a vibrant and diverse neighbourhood. Set to be officially named in April 2025, this gesture is seen as a powerful symbol of solidarity with Palestine, resonating with global movements for justice while sparking both support and controversy locally.

It marks a significant moment in the city’s dialogue about justice, human rights and politics.
