Danish Filmmaker Boycotts Israeli Ambassador’s Dinner Over Gaza “Genocide”
A Danish journalist and filmmaker Thomas Hersi-Heurlin publicly refused an invitation to a diplomatic dinner hosted by Israel’s ambassador to Denmark, David Akov, in a scathing open letter condemning Gaza’s civilian death toll as “genocide.”
The protest reflects growing European dissent against Israel’s war conduct, with artists and intellectuals increasingly leveraging cultural boycotts. Similar rebukes have occurred in Ireland, and Spain.

(To: Ambassador David Akoven and Tamar Akoven,
I have decided not to attend your CO-Pro Dinner tonight in protest of Israel’s ongoing killing of innocent Palestinian civilians.
The death toll has now surpassed 50,000—70% of whom are women and children, according to the UN.
I reject the claim that Israel is merely “defending itself”. How can slaughtering civilians be self-defense?
My conscience forbids me from participating in events that could be seen as endorsing genocide.)
