In an unprecedented legal move, the Danish state is now facing lawsuit demanding to an end to its arms exports to Israel.
The legal action comes amid accusations of Denmark’s complicity in war crimes committed in Gaza. Leading human rights organizations, including Amnesty International Denmark and ActionAid Denmark, have filed the lawsuit, due to the continued risk that military exports pose, making Denmark an accomplice in serious violations of international law.
The case, which was brought before the Eastern High Court on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, holds significant legal weight and could set a global precedent for regulating arms trade.
This legal action follows documented reports confirming the deaths of over 48,300 Palestinians and the widespread destruction of Gaza since the beginning of the war.
