Netherlands Summons Israeli Ambassador After Gaza Aid Convoy Strike

For the first time since the war on Gaza began, the Netherlands has summoned the Israeli ambassador, demanding answers after 15 Palestinian aid workers were killed in an Israeli airstrike on March 23. The workers were part of a humanitarian convoy in Gaza that included clearly marked vehicles from the UN and the Palestinian Civil Defense.

Dutch Foreign Minister Hanke Bruins Slot called the attack “unacceptable.” Opposition leader Pieter Omtzigt from the NSC party said it “crossed a line.”

The move comes as global pressure mounts on Israel over its military actions in Gaza. However, far-right leader Geert Wilders of the Freedom Party said the summons was “overblown.”

The Dutch decision marks a rare diplomatic step and could hint at a broader shift in European attitudes toward the conflict.
