Shadi Lubbad: Trump Paves the Way for a New Nakba

During its evening news bulletin, Channel One – DR1-hosted Shadi Lubbad, the Palestinian activist and expert on prisoners’ affairs., in a live interview to discuss U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent statements on Gaza and their impact on Palestinians, both in Denmark and in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Lubbad condemned Trump’s remarks as “catastrophic and illegal,” warning that they mark a dangerous shift in U.S. policy toward the Palestinian cause. He pointed out that Trump—who had previously claimed to be working toward global peace—is now openly endorsing the policies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom he holds responsible for the deaths of over 55,000 Palestinians, including thousands of women and children.

Lubbad further stressed that Trump’s suggestion of forcibly displacing two million Palestinians from Gaza constitutes a blatant violation of international law and amounts to a crime against humanity.

He argued that such rhetoric underscores Israel’s ongoing genocidal policies against the Palestinian people. Lubbad also highlighted the disturbing moment when Trump spoke about destruction and forced displacement while Netanyahu sat beside him, smiling—a scene that, he said, exposed the extent of their collusion and disregard for Palestinian suffering.

Trump also claimed that Gaza is “uninhabitable” due to Israeli bombardment—a statement that Lubbad dismissed as a dangerous pretext for justifying Israel’s policy of forced displacement.

He asserted that such rhetoric serves as a calculated attempt to erase Palestinian existence and must be unequivocally rejected.
Despite the devastation, Lubbad reaffirmed that the Palestinian people will never allow another Nakba to unfold.

He stressed their inalienable right to return to their homeland and vowed that Palestinians will continue resisting all attempts to uproot them from their land.

Concluding his remarks, Lubbad declared that just as their ancestors resisted past displacement efforts, today’s Palestinians are more determined than ever to defend their land and identity with unwavering resolve.
