No Solace for Childhood: Lodi Cancels Exhibition Featuring Art by Gaza Children
In a concerning move, the municipality of Lodi, near Milan, revoked the permit for the “Granata” hall to host the closing event of the exhibition “HeArt of Gaza – Art of Children Under Genocide,” originally scheduled for March 8.
The event, organized by the “Lodi Coordination for Palestine,” was set to feature Mohamed Hannoun, head of the Palestinian Association in Italy, as a keynote speaker.
The municipality claimed the decision followed a review of the event’s details, despite having issued the permit over a month earlier. Hannoun is widely known for his active role in advocating for the Palestinian cause and promoting solidarity in line with the principles of justice and international law.
The cancellation has drawn widespread criticism, with many accusing the authorities of biased policies and undermining freedom of expression. The organizing institutions are now exploring further steps to address the issue.
